Pupils receive lessons under trees

Pupils
of St. Paul Anglican Primary School, Igborosun, Badagry, Lagos, on
Wednesday received lessons under the tress in the school following
Tuesday collapse of part of the school fence and a block of classrooms.
Three pupils of the school in primaries four and five were injured in the collapse.
News Agency of Nigeria reported that the development was to protect the pupils.
The Head teacher of the school, Mrs. Kafayat Ajibabi, told NAN that the pupils were studying under the trees for security purposes.
She
said, "Since the incident on Tuesday, we decided that the pupils should
be studying outside, pending the time the State Universal Basic
Education Board officials, who have been here, will deliver new building
approved for the school."
The headmistress said nobody died in the incident, adding, "only three of them were injured in the incident."
She
said while two of them were still on admission at the General hospital,
Badagry, one, who was treated for a minor injury, has been discharged.
She also said the injuries of the remaining two pupils were not life-threatening.
Secretary, Local Government Education Area, Badagry, Mr. Olusegun Onilude, explained that the collapsed building was old.
He
said, "The building was constructed during the UPN administration of
Alhaji Lateef Jakande and it is a very old building. But only three
pupils sustained injuries and they are receiving treatment at the
General Hospital, Badagry," Onilude said.
He said the report of the incident had been forwarded to the SUBEB for appropriate action.written by agency reporter
