Pupils receive lessons under trees

                                               A teacher conducting a lesson under a tree   Pupils of St. Paul Anglican Primary School, Igborosun, Badagry, Lagos, on Wednesday received lessons under the tress in the school following Tuesday collapse of part of the school fence and a block of classrooms.   Three pupils of the school in primaries four and five were injured in the collapse. News Agency of Nigeria reported that the development was to protect the pupils. The Head teacher of the school, Mrs. Kafayat Ajibabi, told NAN that the pupils were studying under the trees for security purposes. Man to die by hanging 20 years after murder

                                            Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Dahiru Musdapher A man, Miko Umaru, who beheaded one Hauwa Alasan almost 20 years ago has been sentenced to die by hanging by a Kano High Court. Umaru and two other persons – Yau Jack and Ibrahim Sauro — now at large, were said to have hit Alasan on the head, strangled her and severed her head on February 23, 1992 near Kademi Village in Gaya Local Government Area. While passing the judgement on Monday, Justice Nuradden Umar said, “I have no discretion, based on Section 221 of the Penal Code to commute a death sentence. Very few potential student turned out today for screening as many of these student obviously can not afford the newly introduced school fees. The student union is said to have written to banks affiliated to lagos state university not to accept any form of payment from the freshers as reports has gotten to the student union that some of the banks have collected money already from them.
