Meet The Fake Soldier That Sold Security Gadgets To Police

A 22-year old man who was arrested for impersonation by the police has confessed that most of the security equipment he allegedly stole or acquired illegally was sold to police officers in various divisions in Lagos.
The suspect, Samuel Johnson revealed this when he was paraded at the Police Command Headquarters in Ikeja, Lagos State. He was dressed in army camouflages when he was arrested.
In the course of further investigation, army uniforms and walkie-talkies among other military and police security equipment, were found in his possession.
Johnson claimed that his major suppliers are traders at Alaba from whom he buys the equipment and sells to the police officers at cheap prices.
He however denied selling his equipment to armed robbers, as he was being investigated because he was suspected to have been selling the gadgets to armed robbers. He said he wore the uniform whenever he hawked the items at police stations pretending to be a soldier in order to safeguard his business.
“I did not know that it was illegal to wear army uniform and sell security gadgets,” he confessed.
The Akwa ibom indigene said he was an artist by profession, but ventured into the business because it is lucrative.
Samuel Johnson was arrested by military intelligence officers along Lagos-Badagry road before he was handed over to the police at Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS, Ikeja.
He expressed his regret at venturing into the business, and prayed God would see him through his predicament so that he could live a normal life again.
