ADEKUNLE GOLD, VIKTOH, CHINCO EKUN SET TO LEAVE YBNL

Image
Adekunle Gold, Viktoh and Chinko Ekun are leaving YBNL following the termination of their two-year recording and management contract each. Meanwhile, the musicians are still looking to Olamide as they fear for their future. ‘Adekunle Gold’s contract with YBNL recently expired,’ an insider told Thenetng. ‘He’s yet to decide on his contract renewal because he’s not ready to go unaided.’ Adekunle joined YBNL as an artiste during the first ever OLIC (Olamide Live In Concert) in December 2014. Before his major contract following the release of his hit, ‘Sade’, the singer – who designed the famous YBNL logo – used to work with the music label as a graphics designer. The contracts of Viktoh and Chinko Ekun expired long time ago, but they decided to keep the update on the low as they fear it could make or tarnish careers. Chinko Ekun was no where to be found at Olamide’s concert in Lagos on Monday, where his label mates took turns on stage to thrill the crowd. ‘Just like Chinko Ekun, bot...

WORLD’S FIRST SOLAR ROAD OPENS IN FRANCE

Image
THE world’s first solar highway has been opened in France, in the not-very-sunny village of Tourouvre au Perche in Normandy. The roadway is just one kilometre (0.6 mile) long, but that still works out at 2,800 square metres of photovoltaic cells—enough, hopefully, to power the village’s street lights. The road was built by Colas, a large Anglo-French construction company. Colas has apparently been working on its own solar road tech, called Wattway, for at least five years. Wattway has been tested in car parks, but this is the first time it has been used on an active road. There will now be a two-year test period, to see if Wattway can withstand the rigour of being pounded by thousands of cars and trucks per day, and whether it can actually provide a useful amount of electricity. Usefulness aside, the main problem with constructing solar roads is their crippling cost. One of the main selling points of Wattway, according to Colas, is that each panel is just a few millimetre...

Long queues at petrol stations in major states including the capital city, Abuja, commercial cities such as Lagos, Kano and few others have refused to disappear. This resulted into heavy traffic, road blocks, blaring sirens, cursing and fighting among motorists as citizens scramble daily to fill up their cars, generators and jerry-cans in preparation for the uncertain times. The government was in a fix and needed to provide lasting solution to the menace of perennial acute fuel scar...
