history of ill fated aircrafts in nigeria

There are indications that the Dana Air MC Donnell Douglas MD 83 which crashed around Iju-Ishaga area of Lagos ,yesterday has a history of worrying defaults even before original owners, US-based Alaska Airlines sold it to Dana Airlines on February 17, 2009. According to the information from Aviation Safety Network, an exclusive service of the Air safety Foundation, the ill-fated aircraft was acquired by Alaska Airline in November 13, 1990  with registration number N944AS. However, on November 4, 2002 the aircraft developed fault and had emergency diversion due to smoke and electrical smell in the cabin area, which engineers said was because light ballast had over heated. Four years after, the aircraft’s health was also called to question when on August 20, 2006, it was again evacuated after landing at the Long Beach, CA due to a chaffed wire bundle that discharged and produced smoke in the cabin area again. Apparently scared that the worst could happen, Alaska Airlines was said to have...

abiola's son, daughter hail renaming of unilag, son faults protest

The late MKO Abiola’s family, including his son and daughter have expressed joy over Jonathan’s decision to rename University of Lagos (UNILAG) as Moshood Abiola University. Mr. Abdul Abiola, MKO Abiola’s son, said there was nothing wrong with the naming of the university after his father, saying that the family is shocked by the outrage trailing the presidents decision. Abdul Abiola says the renaming is just one way of honouring and immortalising the late business mogul. “We are shocked by the reactions trailing this development. My late father believed so much in education. “He donated money to universities across the nation. Naming a university after him was a well-deserved honour,” he said. “He should still be given more honours. We see nothing political in this. “We are happy about it and we are yet to understand the rationale behind people going up in arms over this decision,” he added. Daughter of the late MKO abiola, Hafsat Abiola-Costello, described the presidents gesture as w...

governor oshiomole denies impregnating 16 year old girl, sues magazine for 250 million naira

A Lagos-based soft-sell Magazine – News of the People Magazine, published by Dockland Communications Limited, had last year published a story alleging that the governor was dating an under-age girl and had gotten her pregnant. Mr Oshiomhole subsequently sued Dockland Communications Limited for libel, asking for an N250 million as damages for the publication. At the resumed hearing of the case, with suit No B/556/2011, between Mr Oshiomhole and Dockland Communications Limited, the governor alleged that the content of the publication had maligned him. canibal feast on man's face

The identity of a crazed naked man who Miami police officers shot and killed on Sunday because he refused to stop feasting on the face of another man has been revealed as 31 year old Rudy Eugene. An officer saw a man chewing on the victims face and ordered him to back away, when he refused the officer drew his gun and shot. After the man was hit and still refused to back away, the officer fired at least half a dozen more shots. Police believe that Rudy’s cannibalistic behavior may have been triggered by an overdose of “bath salts”, a new form of LSD, or that the attacker was suffering from cocaine psychosis. Rudy’s victim, identified as Ronald Poppo is said to have lost about 75% of his face to the gruesome cannibalistic attack. Poppo is alive but in critical condition. According to Miami Herald news, Rudy Eugene had previously been arrested for a battery charge when he was 16, and was then arrested seven other times between 2004 and 2009, although charges were mostly petty. A woman wh...

THE ASH WEDNESDAY

Image
Believers in Christ and his teachings yesterday declared its ash day as believers proceed to numerous churches for significant anointing. The Ash Wednesday is said to be a day of repentance and forgiveness of sins for all believers or Christians. The anointing process is carried out by the priest of the church. The priest of the church dips his longest finger of his right hand into an oil mixture which he places on the forehead of the anointee. A Catholic church member who identified herself as Miss Ayanwale Christiana spoke to Flashy news correspondent further explained  that “it is a season of lenting for Christians and a period of fasting. Today reminds us of our being created from ashes and returning to ashes. We are to take advantage of this day or period to seek God’s forgiveness and mercy” she said. It was an expression of joy and happiness in all churches as people willingly receive the anointing.            ...
